Being newly released, the DJI Osmo Action 4 is more expensive at $399. When it was first released in September 2022, the GoPro Hero 11 Black was also priced at $399.99. However, as of August 2023, the GoPro Hero 11 Black is now priced at $349.99, making it a more affordable option.

The DJI Osmo Action 4 has a slightly more compact and lightweight design, measuring 70.5 x 44.2 x 32.8 mm and weighing 145 g, while the GoPro Hero 11 Black measures 71.8 x 50.8 x 33.6 mm and weighs 154 g.

Both action cameras are equipped with 3 microphones for crisp and clear audio quality, and a dual screen for easy framing of shots from any angle. However, the DJI Osmo Action 4 has a slight advantage as both of its screens are touchscreen, while only the rear screen of the GoPro Hero 11 Black is touchscreen.

The DJI Osmo Action 4 has better build and endurance for tougher conditions, with a waterproof rating of up to 18m without a case, and a durable construction that can withstand drops and shocks. It can also withstand cold temperatures down to -20°C and has a long battery life supported by 1770 mAh battery capacity.

The GoPro Hero 11 Black is also designed to withstand tough conditions, but it has a lower waterproof rating of up to 10m without a case, and can withstand cold temperatures only down to -10°C. Its 1720 mAh battery is also long enough to last for hours of continuous recording, but it is not as long-lasting as the DJI Osmo Action 4's battery.

#4 Image Quality

When it comes to image quality, GoPro Hero 11 Black has more to offer with its high-quality 5.3K/60 fps video and 27 MP resolution. The DJI Osmo Action 4, on the other hand, only supports 4K/60 fps video and 10 MP resolution.

However, when it comes to shooting in low-light environments, the DJI Osmo Action 4 is the champion. Its large 1/1.3" image sensor can record much better quality footage in dimmer conditions, compared to the Hero 11's smaller 1/1.9" image sensor. The Action 4 even has Low Light Image Enhancement settings that you can enable to automatically optimize image quality and reduce noise when it detects low-light conditions.

When it comes to image stabilization, both action cameras are quite on par. Both feature their own latest image stabilization technology (HyperSmooth 5.0 for GoPro Hero 11 and RockSteady 3.0+ for DJI Osmo Action 4) to ensure smooth and steady footage even in bumpy or shaky situations. GoPro's HyperSmooth 5.0 has AutoBoost to automatically determine the best stabilization settings based on the situation, while DJI's RockSteady 3.0+ has HorizonBalancing and HorizonSteady for maximum stability and horizon leveling.

GoPro Hero 11 Black stands out with its HindSight feature, which allows you to capture up to 15 or 30 seconds of footage before you press the record button. This is perfect for moments when you're not quite sure when the action is going to happen but you don't want to miss it, like catching a fish or scoring a goal in basketball.

The DJI Osmo Action 4, on the other hand, has a feature called Built-in Timecode, which will be useful if you record footage with multiple cameras. This feature will synchronize all of your footage from different cameras, so you can edit them more easily.

One of the most recommended accessories of the DJI Osmo Action 4 is InvisiStick, a discreet and lightweight selfie stick that can be easily concealed in your shots with editing via the DJI Mimo App. This is perfect for taking third-person footage without the stick being visible.

GoPro also has a similar invisible stick accessory called the MAX Grip + Tripod. Even though it is compatible with the Hero 11 Black, the invisible stick was specially designed for 360 footage produced by 360 cameras like the GoPro Max. So, when using the Hero 11, the stick will not be invisible.

DJI Osmo Action 4 can produce the invisible stick effect due to its powerful editing tools, the DJI Mimo app, which uses cloud computing and AI algorithms to eliminate the selfie stick. This is something that GoPro is still lacking.
