Updated December 2024
eufy Floodlight E30 is around $50 cheaper than Ring Floodlight Plus, but it seems to offer more features and better overall value for the money. In this comparison across key important aspects of both floodlight cameras, we'll tell you why.
Key Takeaways
While Ring is restricted to a 140° field of view, eufy provides complete 360° coverage through its pan and tilt functionality. Ring is also limited to a 1080p resolution, while eufy delivers sharper 2K video quality. Ring requires subscription for person detection and cloud storage while eufy offers person and vehicle detection for free, plus local storage support and 24/7 continuous recording.

Design
Ring Floodlight Plus
Both the Ring Floodlight Plus and eufy Floodlight E30 consist of a camera unit and two floodlight panels that can emit up to 2000 lumens of light. They're meant for outdoor placement, so they're naturally built to withstand harsh weather conditions.
The design difference between the two mainly lies in their appearance. Eufy's rectangular floodlights take up more space horizontally, looking bold compared to Ring's more compact, circular floodlights.
Video Quality
eufy Floodlight E30
Both floodlight cameras offer color night vision, equally providing full-color footage even in low-light conditions.
However, the Ring Floodlight Plus is still stuck at 1080p resolution, unfortunately, while eufy Floodlight E30 offers higher 2K resolution. That means more detail and clarity in your video recordings with the eufy.
The camera unit of the eufy Floodlight E30 can also pan and tilt, covering a full 360-degree field of view for comprehensive surveillance of your property. You can manually adjust the camera angle remotely through the app or set a patrol schedule to automatically scan different areas at specific times.
Meanwhile, Ring Floodlight Plus has a fixed 140-degree field of view horizontally and 80-degree vertically. While it's still wide enough for most outdoor monitoring needs, it doesn't offer the same flexibility and coverage as eufy's pan-and-tilt capability.
Smart Features
Ring Floodlight Plus
Ring Floodlight Plus and eufy Floodlight E30 come with their respective companion app where you can see live footage, control settings, receive motion notifications, and talk to visitors through two-way audio. Both floodlight cameras are also equipped with 105 dB alarm, which can be useful to deter potential intruders.
One advantage that the eufy Floodlight E30 offers is the 24/7 continuous recording feature, where you can store footage around the clock continuously instead of just storing motion-triggered clips as in Ring Floodlight Plus.
This is possible thanks to eufy's local storage support, which allows you to insert up to 128GB microSD card. The storage duration depends on the video quality settings, but 128GB should last for 6 days of 2K continuous recording.
On the other hand, Ring Floodlight Pus offers no local storage. You need to pay extra for 180-day cloud storage with the Ring Protect Subscription, and that still doesn't give you 24/7 continuous recording capability anyway.
Ring Protect subscription also unlocks a person detection feature, which can send you person alerts when the camera detects a person instead of just general motion alerts. This is cool, but not until you realize that eufy Floodlight E30 already includes person and vehicle detection for free, all with no additional costs.
eufy Floodlight E30
Remember that the eufy Floodlight E30 can pan and tilt to cover a 360-degree view? It complements that capability with AI tracking. So, upon detecting motion, the camera will automatically follow and track the moving subject.
The Out-of-View Detection also ensures the camera pivots when motion is detected in areas outside its current field of view, making it an incredibly comprehensive surveillance solution. How very generous for its price!
Ring definitely falls short in those aspects. It tries to make up for 'comprehensiveness' though, with a feature known as Advanced Pre-Roll Video Preview. This feature is free (thankfully) and it allows you to see six-second recording of what happened before a motion event was triggered, so you can see a more complete picture and understand what led up to the motion detection.
Installation
Ring Floodlight Plus
When it comes to installation, both floodlight cameras follow a similar process. They can be mounted on a wall or eave, hardwired to your home's electrical system, and require a junction box.
Both devices come with detailed instructions and mounting hardware, so you can install them yourself or hire a professional if you're not comfortable working with electrical wiring.
Ring Floodlight Plus vs eufy Floodlight E30
Final Thoughts
eufy Floodlight E30
After comparing these two floodlight cameras, it's quite clear that eufy offers significantly more value for your money. While Ring's Pre-Roll feature is nice to have, it doesn't quite make up for the limitations in resolution, field of view, and the subscription requirements for features that come standard with eufy.
The eufy Floodlight E30's pan-and-tilt functionality, combined with its AI tracking capabilities, 2K resolution, free person and vehicle detection, local storage support, and 24/7 continuous recording feature all provide a more complete security solution at a lower price point.
