Garmin Enduro 3 vs Fenix 7 Pro

Garmin Enduro 3 and Fenix 8 are among Garmin's latest flagship multisport GPS watches in 2024. However, we will not be comparing the Enduro 3 vs Fenix 8 in this article, but rather the Enduro 3 vs the Fenix 7 Pro, which is the predecessor to the Fenix 8.

Garmin Enduro 3 and Fenix 7 Pro are closer in pricing, with the Fenix 7 Pro being US$100 cheaper. With that in mind, how do both smartwatches compare?

Key Takeaways

Garmin Fenix 7 Pro's key strength lies in its wider range of supported activity profiles, including sailing and military-related activities that the Enduro 3 does not offer. However, Garmin Enduro 3 has a far longer-lasting battery, new QZSS and BeiDou support, sports-specific Advanced Strength Training, and dynamic round-trip routing.

#1 Design & Display

Garmin Enduro 3 vs Fenix 7 Pro

Garmin Enduro 3

Garmin Enduro 3 and Fenix 7 Pro share a rugged build with a 10 ATM water resistance rating and military-grade durability. Both also feature a power-efficient, sunlight-visible transflective memory-in-pixel (MIP) display, but the Enduro 3 has a larger 1.4" display compared to 1.3" on the Fenix 7 Pro.

This could be due to the Enduro 3's larger 51mm case size, compared to the 47mm case size of the Fenix 7 Pro. However, note that the Fenix 7 Pro is also available in other case size variants – the 42mm Fenix 7S Pro and 51mm Fenix 7X Pro. The Fenix 7X Pro offers a 1.4" MIP display while the Fenix 7S Pro has a smaller 1.2" display.

Garmin Enduro 3 is made of more premium materials, including a scratch-resistant Power Sapphire lens, durable titanium bezel, and comfortable UltraFit nylon strap. Meanwhile, the Fenix 7 Pro uses the standard Power Glass lens, stainless steel bezel, and silicone strap.

#2 Health & Fitness Features

In terms of health and fitness features, Garmin Enduro 3 and Fenix 7 Pro have more similarities than differences. Both can track heart rate, VO2 max, blood oxygen, sleep, stress, Body Battery, and ECG.

A range of advanced training and performance metrics are also available on both watches, including training status, training load, recovery time, real-time stamina, PacePro pacing strategies, ClimbPro ascent planner, MTB Grit and Flow, race predictor, and more. All of these are useful for athletes and fitness enthusiasts to optimize their training and performance.

One advantage that the Enduro 3 offers is its Advanced Strength Training feature, which is not offered by the Fenix 7 Pro. This feature develops a 4-6 weeks of sports-specific strength training plans for athletes of all types, so so they can better prepare their bodies for their chosen sport.

While the Fenix 7 Pro lacks the Advanced Strength Training feature, it offers built-in support for a wider range of activities. While the Fenix 7 Pro has 99 activity profiles, the Enduro 3 offers 95. The four additional activity profiles on the Fenix 7 Pro include water sports like Sail Racing and Sailing Expedition, as well as military-specific activities like Tactical and Jumpmaster.

#3 Maps & Navigational Features

Three types of built-in maps come preloaded in both the Enduro 3 and Fenix 7 Pro, including TopoActive maps for detailed topographic maps, SkiView maps for skiing and snowboarding, and Golf Course maps for over 43,000 golf courses worldwide.

Both watches are also equipped with a similar set of navigational features, including NextFork Navigation, TracBack, Up Ahead, point-to-point navigation, and more.

One feature that stands out from the Enduro 3 is dynamic round-trip routing, which lets users set a target distance and get course recommendations that automatically return to the starting point on time.

While they both support multi-band GPS with SatIQ to auto-select the most optimal GPS mode, Garmin Enduro 3 supports five satellite systems – GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, and BeiDou – while the Fenix 7 Pro also supports the first three systems, including GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo. More supported satellite systems can provide better accuracy and reliability for GPS tracking.

In GPS mode, the Garmin Enduro 3 is rated for up to 120 hours (320 hours with solar) of runtime. Meanwhile, the Fenix 7 Pro lasts for up to 57 hours (73 hours with solar) in the same mode.

Other case size variants of the Fenix 7 Pro offer varying battery life, with the 51mm Fenix 7X Pro reaching up to 89 hours (122 hours with solar) in GPS mode, while the 42mm Fenix 7S Pro can last for up to 37 hours (46 hours with solar) in GPS mode

Final Thoughts

Garmin Fenix 7 Pro

The Garmin Enduro 3 and Fenix 7 Pro are both impressive multisport GPS watches, but the Enduro 3 appears to have a slight edge in several key areas. Its larger display, more premium materials, and advanced strength training features make it a compelling choice for athletes and fitness enthusiasts. Additionally, the Enduro 3's significantly longer battery life, especially with solar charging, could be a major advantage for those who engage in extended outdoor activities.

Garmin Fenix 7 Pro offers a more diverse set of activity profiles, making it a versatile option for a wider range of outdoor pursuits. However, it loses to the Enduro 3 in terms of overall battery life, premium design elements, and the newest sports-specific Advanced Strength Training feature.
