Updated December 2024
Ekrin B37 (v2) has been praised by many for its powerful percussive massage capabilities, despite its relatively affordable price tag. In this article, we'll stack it up against Theragun Pro (5th Gen), which is known as one of the top-tier massage guns on the market. How do both models compare in terms of 5 key aspects?
Key Takeaways
The Theragun Pro excels with powerful performance, smart features, and versatile attachments, but it’s more expensive. The Ekrin B37 offers a budget-friendly alternative with strong performance, high stall force, and an 8-hour battery life, despite lacking smart features and a sophisticated display.

Design
Theragun Pro (5th Gen)
Theragun Pro retains the patented triangular design similar to other Theragun models, which provides an ergonomic multi-grip and allows for reaching hard-to-access areas. However, the arm where you attach the massage head is now adjustable to 4 different positions, allowing even greater flexibility and reach.
Theragun Pro also integrates an OLED screen into its body, providing a user-friendly way to monitor the device's settings. From the screen, we can see the current speed, force meter, battery status, and even follow 4 visually guided routines that come built-in to the device.
Ekrin B37 has a very different design approach with a more streamlined body resembling a power tool. The handle is slightly angled to 15 degrees to allow three grip positions and improved ergonomics, but it still can't match the flexibility of the Theragun Pro's rotating arm.
The control interface of the Ekrin B37 is also very simple. On the top of the handle, you'll find just one single button with two sets of light indicators to monitor the speed and battery status. Long pressing the button will turn the device on or off, while short pressing it cycles through the 5 available speed settings.
Attachments
Ekrin B37 vs Theragun Pro
Theragun Pro comes with 6 high-quality attachments, including a standard ball for overall use, a dampener for tender areas or near bones, a wedge for shoulder blades or IT bands, a thumb for trigger points, a supersoft for sensitive areas, and a micro-point for increased stimulation.
Ekrin B37, meanwhile, only comes with 4 attachments, including a flat for overall use, a silicone round for low-impact treatment, a bullet for pinpoint treatment, and a fork for the neck and spine.
While fewer attachments mean less versatility in treatment options, the Ekrin B37 still provides a good variety of massage heads to address different muscle groups and needs.
Performance
Ekrin B37 v2
Theragun Pro is among the most powerful massage guns on the market, boasting a deep 16 mm amplitude and a high 60 lbs stall force. With such a high level of power, it is perfect for deep tissue massage, effectively relieving muscle soreness, tension, and knots.
In comparison, Ekrin B37 offers 12 mm amplitude, which is considered medium, and 56 lbs stall force, which is considered high. A high force combined with a medium amplitude doesn't translate to a tissue massage as deep as the Theragun Pro, but it still provides quite a strong performance.
On top of that, the Ekrin B37 has a wide speed range of 1400-3200 PPM. The five built-in speed settings allow you to choose between 1400, 1800, 2200, 2600, and 3200 PPM, a wide range that covers both gentle and intense massage needs.
Theragun Pro offers a narrower 1750-2400 PPM range in its five built-in speed settings, including 1750, 1900, 2100, 2200, and 2400 PPM. However, the speed can be customized to anywhere within the range instead of just being limited to the five preset options. It is a feature available in the Therabody app, which we'll explore next.
Smart Features
Therabody App
As previously mentioned, the Theragun Pro offers more customization options through the Therabody app, allowing you to adjust the speed remotely to anywhere between 1750-2400 PPM.
Therabody app also offers a library of guided routines, which take you through step-by-step techniques to target specific muscle groups. When the device is connected to the app via Bluetooth, the app will automatically adjust the device's settings to match the routine so you can just follow along.
The OLED screen on the Theragun Pro already has 4 built-in visually guided routines, including 4 visually guided built-in routines via OLED screen: Sleep, Warm Up, Recovery, and Theragun Break. However, you can also save your own personalized routines from the Therabody app to the device.
Ekrin B37 has no companion app available, so it lacks the advanced smart features and customization options found in the Theragun Pro.
Battery Life
Ekrin B37 v2
Theragun Pro delivers up to 150 minutes of runtime, which is the longest battery life in Theragun massage gun lineup. However, compared to Ekrin B37, a 2.5-hour runtime is not as impressive.
Ekrin B37 is rated for up to 8 hours of runtime, which is more than triple the battery life of the Theragun Pro. This makes the Ekrin B37 far better for extended use or travel without needing to recharge as often.

Final Thoughts
Theragun Pro (5th Gen)
Theragun Pro is the superior massage gun overall, delivering a powerful massage in a user-friendly design with versatile attachments and advanced smart features. However, it's also significantly more expensive than the Ekrin B37.
The Ekrin B37, on the other hand, offers a more budget-friendly option without sacrificing performance. While it may not have the same level of customization and smart features as the Theragun Pro, the Ekrin B37 still delivers a strong massage experience with its high stall force and wide speed range. Additionally, its impressive 8-hour battery life makes it a practical choice for those who require extended use or frequent travel.
