Between their top-of-the-line models, the Theragun PRO (5th Gen) & Hypervolt 2 Pro both have remarkable features yet also considerable differences.

Theragun PRO (4th Gen)
Off the bat, one clear distinction between the two models is the price. The Theragun PRO (5th Gen) comes out on the premium side at US$599, costing 50% more than the Hypervolt 2 Pro which retails for US$399.
Both models are the top-of-the-range from each brand and are definitely expensive massage devices. However, with the Theragun PRO (5th Gen) being $200 more, it does offer some features that may make it worth the extra cost. Let’s take a look.
2. Power & Performance

One of the metrics that make Theragun stands out is its percussion amplitude of 16mm. The Hypervolt 2 Pro comes in close behind at 14mm. Though this 2mm difference may not seem like much, the higher amplitude of the Theragun PRO (5th Gen) helps it to reach deeper into the muscle tissue, providing a more intense massage experience.
Furthermore, the Theragun PRO (5th Gen) offers a greater stall force of 60 lbs compared to the Hypervolt 2 Pro which is only said to measure up to roughly 35 lbs. This higher stall force means that the Theragun PRO (5th Gen) can provide more power and pressure during the deep tissue massage, allowing for more effective muscle recovery.
The Hypervolt 2 Pro does beat the Theragun PRO (5th Gen) when it comes to speed range, offering the ability to go up to 2,700 PPMs (percussions per minutes). With the PRO, you can only toggle between a speed range of 1,750 - 2,400 PPMs. That said, the more important thing here is not how fast the devices can go, but instead the ability to choose from a range of speeds as different people will have varying preferences.

Both brands have also built out their own companion app to use with their respective devices. With the app, you are able to control the device’s speed and also get guidance & personalised routines on how to best use them.
One last thing to note is the warranty. Theragun backs their PRO (5th Gen) with an industry-leading 2-year warranty, giving you peace of mind over your device. The Hypervolt 2 Pro’s warranty comes in at a standard 1 year period.

3. Design & Display
Theragun PRO (5th Gen)
The most visible difference between the two models will have to be its design. As pioneers in the space, the Theragun PRO (5th Gen) comes with their patented triangle ergonomic multi-grip handle, giving you extreme flexibility on holding the device comfortably as you work it around your body. The Hypervolt 2 Pro comes with a more standard cross design with a pill-shaped grip that you find in most regular massage guns, which makes it a little more strenuous to hold.
To add to this ergonomics, the Theragun PRO (5th Gen) also has an adjustable arm, allowing you to move between 4 positions to find the best angle.
The Theragun PRO (5th Gen) also has a much more advanced OLED display with intuitive buttons to easily control the device, compared to the Hypervolt 2 Pro which uses a digital dial for speed control. On the Theragun’s OLED display, you can also get visually-guided, built-in routines for sleep, warmup and recovery.
Hypervolt 2 Pro
In terms of weight, the Theragun PRO (5th Gen) is slightly heavier at 2.9 lb / 1.3 kg, compared to the Hypervolt 2 Pro which weighs 2.6 lb / 1.18 kg.
Theragun has 6 attachments: Standard Ball, Dampener, Thumb, Micro-Point, Wedge, and Supersoft. Hypervolt has 5: Fork, Ball, Cushion, Flat, and Bullet. These attachments are used for different applications depending on your needs but Theragun has put a lot more science behind their attachment design. The Supersoft is sponge-like and gives you a softer touch when you’re working on sensitive areas like joints and really sore muscles while their newly patented Micro-Point helps to provide increased stimulation through therapy.
4. Battery & Charging
Hypervolt 2 Pro
Both devices feature removable batteries, so you can replace them when needed, ensuring that your device is always ready for use. However, here’s one area the Theragun falls short. The battery life of the PRO (5th Gen) is 2.5 hours when fully charged, while the Hypervolt 2 Pro can last for up to 3 hours.
When it comes to charging, the Theragun PRO (5th Gen) utilises a new USB-C charging connector for charging, while the Hypervolt comes with its own specialised charging adapter. With the upgrade to USB-C charging, PRO (5th Gen) users now get greater convenience of charging without having to specifically carry the entire charging set.

Final Thoughts
Digging down to the details, you are definitely getting a lot more with the Theragun Pro (5th Gen), justifying its higher price tag compared to the Hypervolt 2 Pro. Theragun’s standout features with its design and high-grade motor make it a worthy investment in the long run for your recovery.
If you feel like you don't need a device that is so extravagant, the Hypervolt 2 Pro is still a worthy contender or you can alternatively consider Theragun's mid-range models instead like the Elite or Prime.
