Design

Insta360 Flow Pro

The Insta360 Flow 2 Pro retains the all-in-one design of the original Flow Pro, offering a built-in tripod and selfie stick that can help you capture unique perspectives with ease. The tripod is claimed to be more sturdy and there is a new selfie mirror behind the roll axis motor, which helps you keep in check with your appearance during video recording.

The handle also becomes longer and anti-slip, which should provide a more comfortable and secure grip during use. However, it remains as compact, lightweight, and foldable as the original Flow Pro.

Another thing that has been redesigned on the Flow 2 Pro is the SmartWheel. While it retains most of the control already available in the original Flow Pro, it now has a new C button that provides quick access to creative effects.

Mechanical Range

Insta360 Flow 2 Pro

The Insta360 Flow 2 Pro offers a significantly wider tilt range (-99° to 231°) compared to the Flow Pro (-100° to 82°), allowing for more extreme upward and downward angles. The Flow 2 Pro now has a new Free Tilt Mode, which lets you break free from the tilt axis limitation, enabling creative camera movements like crane shots, orbit shots, dolly shots, and low-angle transitions.

For roll movement, the again Flow 2 Pro provides a broader range (-390° to 135°) versus the Flow Pro (-150° to 180°), allowing for smoother, more dynamic rotations and creative shots.

The 360° panning capability remains the same on both gimbals, but the Insta360 Flow 2 Pro adds a new 360° Pan Shot feature. With a single click of the C button, the gimbal will automatically rotate 360 degrees, capturing a panoramic video.

Tracking Features

Insta360 Flow Pro

The Insta360 Flow 2 Pro uses Deep Track 4.0 for subject tracking, which improves upon the previous Deep Track 3.0 on the Flow Pro.

The Deep Track 4.0 introduces three new capabilities - Active Zoom Tracking for tracking fast movement while zooming in, Multi-Person Tracking for tracking multiple subjects, and Pro Framing Grid for subject tracking based on Golden Ratio composition.

These tracking features make the Insta360 Flow 2 Pro a more powerful and versatile gimbal for capturing dynamic, professional-looking footage.

The capability of subject tracking in third-party apps remains the same on both gimbals. For iPhone users, Apple DockKit support enables tracking in the native Camera app and over 200 compatible iOS apps. For Android users, the Live Mode feature on the Insta360 app can be used for subject tracking on third-party apps, though the list of compatible apps is more limited.

Other Features

The original Insta360 Flow Pro supports One-Tap Pairing using NFC for iPhone, and now the Flow 2 Pro expands this feature to support Android devices as well. With this feature, you can pair your phone with the gimbal by simply placing your phone's NFC area close to the gimbal's pairing area, making the connection process much faster and more convenient.

In terms of remote control features, both gimbals offer gesture control and Apple Watch remote control. However, on the original Flow Pro, the Apple Watch can only be used to control the gimbal when recording using the native iPhone camera app, while on the Flow 2 Pro, the Apple Watch remote control also supports the Insta360 app.

The Insta360 Flow 2 Pro also brings a new Smartphone Remote Control feature. This enables you to use a second smartphone to preview and control the gimbal from a distance. Connecting a second smartphone is also very easy by simply scanning the QR code.

Another new feature on the Flow 2 Pro is Teleprompter. If you're a content creator who needs to deliver scripted content to the camera, then it's great because this feature allows you to read the script from the screen while recording.

Lastly, the Insta360 Flow 2 Pro newly adds support for Apple ProRes and Dolby Vision, providing professional video quality and HDR capabilities. The company said this feature will also be added to the Insta360 Flow Pro in a future update, but we don't know the exact timeline for when that will happen.

Battery

The Insta360 Flow 2 Pro is powered just by an 1100 mAh battery, which is more than half the capacity of the 2900 mAh battery found in the original Insta360 Flow Pro. However, it impressively can reach the 10-hour runtime of the original Insta360 Flow Pro, meaning that the Insta360 Flow 2 Pro has better battery optimization and efficiency compared to its predecessor.

The Flow 2 Pro also retains the power bank functionality of the original Flow Pro, allowing users to charge smartphones while on the go.
