TCL C655 vs C755: Is The Newer The Better?

Updated February 2025

TCL C755 was introduced as an entry-level Mini LED TV in 2023, offering great value for the price. TCL C655 is a QLED TV without Mini LED technology, so it is on the more affordable side compared to the C755 model. However, the C655 is a newer model released in 2024, which brings us to question which one offers better overall performance and value for the money.
Key Takeaways
TCL C655 has a newer, more advanced processor, but the TCL C755 is the superior option overall. It boasts a higher 1600 nits peak brightness compared to 450 nits on the C655. It also offers Dolby Vision IQ, IMAX Enhanced, and FreeSync Premium Pro, features that are not available on the TCL C655.

Display

TCL C755
As a newer model, the C655 features a newer AiPQ Pro Processor. Compared to the AiPQ Processor 3.0 on the C755, the Pro version is a more advanced image processing chip that delivers improved image quality.
However, in most other display features, the C755 takes the lead. For example, while both are QLED TVs that use Quantum Dot technology for enhanced color accuracy, only the C755 uses Mini LED backlights. That gives the C755 higher local dimming zones, deeper blacks, and better overall contrast.
The C755 is also significantly brighter. The 50-inch variant boasts 1200 nits of peak brightness, while the largest 98-inch variant reaches up to 1600 nits. In contrast, the peak brightness levels of the C655 are limited to just 430 nits and 450 nits for the smallest and largest sizes, respectively.
Dolby Vision IQ is another feature that gives the C755 an advantage. It is a step up from the standard Dolby Vision offered in the C655, which can intelligently adjust the picture quality based on the ambient light in the room.
Lastly, the C755 is also certified for IMAX Enhanced, meeting high standards for picture and sound quality. The C655, on the other hand, is not.
Audio

TCL C655
Both TVs are more similar in audio features than display features, equally offering Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD, and DTS Virtual X for immersive sound performance. Both the C655 and C755 also feature an Onkyo 2.1-channel speaker that outputs 50W of total audio power.
However, the C655 only uses a 2.1-channel speaker on the 55-inch or larger models, so you will only get a 2.0-channel speaker without a subwoofer on 43-inch and 50-inch screen sizes. Meanwhile, the C755 comes with a 2.1-channel speaker system across all screen sizes.
Gaming Features

TCL C755
TCL C655 and C755 feature Game Master 2.0, so they are equally well-equipped in terms of gaming features. You can change the Game Picture Mode, take a screenshot, and benefit from features like Shadow Enhancement and Aiming Aid.
Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), 144Hz Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), and AMD FreeSync are also supported for smooth and responsive gaming performance.
One difference is that the C755 offers FreeSync Premium Pro, which is a higher tier of FreeSync with HDR capabilities. It gives better visual and enhanced contrast than the FreeSync Premium offered on the C655.

Final Thoughts

TCL C655
While the TCL C655 has an edge with its more advanced and newer processor, the TCL C755 appears to be the more premium and feature-rich option overall.
With its Mini LED backlighting, higher peak brightness, Dolby Vision IQ, and IMAX Enhanced certification, the C755 offers superior display performance and image quality. Additionally, the FreeSync Premium Pro support on the C755 provides a more enhanced gaming experience compared to the C655.
