TCL C845 and C855 are some of the consider-worthy models in TCL's Mini LED TV lineup. Judging from the name alone, they seem to be very similar with only minor differences, but the reality may be quite different when comparing the actual specifications and features of these two TVs. Let's take a closer look!
Key Takeaways
While both TCL models offer Mini LED and Quantum Dot technology, the C855 outperforms the C845 with more dimming zones, higher brightness (3500 vs 2000 nits), advanced processor (AiPQ Pro vs AiPQ 3.0), and superior audio (2.2.2 vs 2.1 channel). Both TVs use Quantum Dot technology to deliver a wide color gamut of up to 97% according to the DCI-P3 standard, providing vibrant and accurate colors. With Mini LED backlighting, they also offer excellent contrast and local dimming capabilities.
However, the C855 offers significantly higher dimming zones, giving it more precise control over local dimming, better contrast, enhanced clarity, and reduced glare compared to the C845. As you can see from the number of dimming zones for each model below, the C855 has a clear advantage in this area.
Screen Size | TCL C845 | TCL C855 |
---|---|---|
55” | 480 zones | - |
65” | 576 zones | 1344 zones |
75” | 720 zones | 2160 zones |
85” | 896 zones | 2304 zones |
98” | - | 2160 zones |
In terms of display brightness, the C855 is again winning. Its 65-inch variant offers 3300 nits of peak brightness, while the rest of the screen sizes can reach as high as 3500 nits of peak brightness. On the other hand, the C845 is limited to 2000 nits of peak brightness across all screen sizes.
While both TVs equally support Dolby Vision IQ, HDR 10+, HLG, and IMAX Enhanced, only the C855 has HDR10+ Adaptive. It dynamically optimizes HDR performance based on the room's ambient lighting conditions.
Lastly, the C855 features a newer, more advanced AiPQ Pro Processor, providing even superior image quality and processing capabilities compared to the C845, which uses an older AiPQ Processor 3.0.

Both TVs are equipped with some common audio features, including Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD, and DTS Virtual:X for immersive soundstage.
One difference is the speaker setup they use, with the C845 featuring a 2.1-channel speaker system, while the C855 uses a 2.2.2-channel configuration with an extra subwoofer and two upward-firing speakers. This leads to enhanced audio performance on the C855 with deeper and more evenly distributed bass.
Note that a 2.2.2-channel speaker is only available on the 98-inch and 85-inch sizes of the C855, while the 75-inch and 65-inch models use a 2.1.2-channel configuration.
