Fitbit released the Inspire 3 in August 2022 to replace its predecessors from two years ago, the Inspire 2. The Fitbit Inspire 3 comes with a couple of upgrades when it comes to design and features over the Inspire 2.

We’ll compare the two models in our Fitbit Inspire 3 vs Fitbit Inspire 2 review to see which one stands out on price, design, features and performance.

1. Price

Fitbit Inspire 3

As a newly released model, the Fitbit Inspire 3 will cost you a little more than the Inspire 2. To give a rough gauge, the Inspire 3 will cost $20-40 more depending on where you live and what promotion is ongoing.

In our opinion, the small difference isn’t really such a dealbreaker considering that we are investing in a fitness tracker that should last us at least 2-3 years. That said it also boils down to whether the upgrades in the Fitbit Inspire 3 are worth paying more for.

2. Design & Display

Fitbit Inspire 3

The Fitbit Inspire 3 has a newer and better display. It uses a full-colour AMOLED display that is visually striking along with a greater pixel density for a sharper screen, making it easy to read. The Inspire 2 uses a basic monochromatic PMOLED display that pales in comparison to the Inspire 3.

The Inspire 3 now also comes with an always-on display, making it accessible whenever you need to refer to it while relaxing or exercising.

Both fitness trackers operate using a touchscreen with 2 buttons at the side, providing a convenient and also tactile user interface. However, one disappointment with the display is that Fitbit still has not released a watch face that loads multiple stats for the Inspire 3.

3. Health & Fitness

Fitbit Inspire 2

The Fitbit Inspire 3 and Inspire 2 have rather similar health & fitness features. Both trackers provide basic heart rate tracking and will also track irregular heart rhythms, sending you an alert if it detects signs of atrial fibrillation while you’re resting.

When it comes to fitness, both trackers come with over 20 different exercise modes like running, cycling, swimming and more. You can also track your favourite spin classes and yoga sessions. These trackers will deliver you real-time data as you work out to understand how your body is performing.

Both fitness trackers also come with a free trial of Fitbit Premium, allowing you to unlock additional features such as understanding your Daily Readiness Score and Sleep Profile. However, the Fitbit Inspire 2 comes with a longer trial period of 1 year versus the 6-month trial in the Inspire 3.

One distinctive upgrade in the Fitbit Inspire 3 is the new red and infrared sensors for blood oxygen (SpO2) monitoring. SpO2 tracking allows you to understand the distribution of blood oxygen in your body to get a better picture of your overall wellness.

One thing to note is that both trackers do not have a GPS sensor and hence lack native location tracking. This may be a minor hassle for some as it means that you will have to bring your phone along in order to get accurate location data for your walks or runs.

4. Power & Performance

Fitbit Inspire 3

The Fitbit Inspire 3 and Inspire 2 both have great battery performance, allowing you to use them for up to 10 days on a single charge. Do bear in mind that if you have activated the always-on display in the Inspire 3, it will definitely drain the battery level slightly faster than normal.

When it comes to battery performance, both models are on par and there is not much to complain about its long-lasting battery life.

Final Thoughts

We think for the small extra investment, the Fitbit Inspire 3 is a better option compared to the Inspire 2 if you are looking to purchase either now.

However, if you’re considering upgrading from your current Inspire 2, you might not find enough reason with the new AMOLED display and SpO2 sensor to do so. Unless your current tracker is due for a change.
