Jabra Elite 75t vs Jabra Elite Active 75t: What's The Difference

Updated August 2021
by Kaelyn Chua

On the exterior, the Jabra Elite 75t and the Jabra Elite Active 75t look physically identical with cases of the same size, shape and weight. Although they're hard to visually distinguish, they each present their own unique edge over the other. We've put together a feature comparison down below to help you decide which one is the right fit for you.

What's The Difference?

Water Resistance

Jabra Elite 75t

The Jabra Elite 75t has an IP55 water resistance rating, meaning that while it does protects your earbuds from the occasional splash or drop of rain, its advisable not to submerge them in water. On the other hand, the Jabra Elite Active 75t features a IP57 water resistance rating, making them practically waterproof thanks to a thin special coating on the exterior of the earbuds. The Elite Active 75t earbuds will survive in depths of 1 meter for up to 30 minutes at a time but do be forewarned that submerging the earbuds in saltwater will brick them completely.

In terms of waterproofing, the Jabra Elite Active 75t definitely comes up on top with superior water resistance ratings. However its worth noting that both models are not suitable for taking a dip in the beach, so do keep your buds safely on shore!

Gym Usage

Jabra Elite Active 75t

The major difference between the Jabra Elite 75t and the Jabra Elite Active 75t is in their names. The Elite Active 75t was designed with exercise in mind, hence it's no surprise that its' features are built towards handling the sweat and grime that comes with an intense workout. This doesn't mean you CAN'T use the Elite 75t at the gym, just that it's not really what the Elite 75t was designed for and you might run a higher risk of your earbuds dying on you.

Battery Life

Jabra Elite 75t

Both the Jabra Elite 75t and the Jabra Elite Active 75t have around the same battery life as they both benefitted from the same improvements from the Jabra Elite 65t model. The previous Elite 65t model only lasted up to 4 hours, while the Elite 75t and the Elite Active 75t both manage to hit the 7.5 hour mark — almost double of the previous generation.

Colour Selection

Jabra Elite Active 75t

The Jabra Elite Active 75t does offer a slightly wider colour range coming in 4 colours namely: navy, grey, mint and sienna. While the Jabra Elite 75t comes in 3 colours namely: black, titanium black and gold beige.

Companion Application

Sound+ Application

Both the Jabra Elite 75t and the Jabra Elite Active 75t are compatible with the Sound+ application. This opens the door to new and exciting features such as MySound where users can create their own personal hearing profiles by listening to a series of beeps that are meant to tune your ears to whatever you listen to.

Another cool feature is the MyControls where users can alter the default controls for the play and pause button and other related music playback buttons. This adds another layer of customisation to your Jabra earbuds making for a truly wireless experience.

Active Noise Cancellation

Jabra Elite 75t

The Jabra Elite 75t and the Jabra Elite Active 75t both feature Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) through a firmware update. ANC functions through using built-in microphones to mask background sound so you can listen to your music in peace. Sound quality wise, both the Elite 75t and Elite Active 75t perform similarly with negligible difference!
