Theragun Elite (4th Gen) vs Theragun PRO (5th Gen)

The Theragun Elite (4th Gen) is generally considered the mid-entry model in the Theragun series. It is often compared to the Theragun PRO, which is the next step up in the Theragun range.

We’ll dive into our Theragun Elite (4th Gen) vs Theragun PRO (5th Gen) review and compare them on price, performance, and design to figure out which is better for you.

#1 Price

Theragun Elite (4th Gen) vs Theragun PRO (5th Gen)

Theragun Elite (4th Gen) vs Theragun PRO (5th Gen)

The Theragun Elite (4th Gen) is priced at US$399, while the Theragun PRO (5th Gen) comes in at a hefty price of US$599. The US$200 price difference may seem a lot but is understandable for the additional hardware features in the PRO.

That being said, spending an additional $200 may not be ideal for most, especially those looking for something simpler and less extravagant. We'll explore the hardware differences to help you decide whether investing more in the Theragun PRO (5th Gen) is worth it.

#2 Power & Performance

Theragun Elite (4th Gen) vs Theragun PRO (5th Gen)

Theragun Elite (4th Gen) vs Theragun PRO (5th Gen)

Both the Theragun PRO (5th Gen) and Theragun Elite (4th Gen) have similar amplitudes of 16mm, which allows them to effectively relieve tension and soreness by reaching deep into your muscles. Additionally, both devices can reach speeds of up to 2,400 PPM.

Moreover, these devices offer built-in Bluetooth connectivity, allowing you to connect to the Therabody app for guided routines and more precise speed control. Through the app, you can access personalised routines for recovery, as well as programs designed to aid with sleep and stress. Additionally, the app provides guidance to help alleviate pain symptoms and treat specific ailments, such as tennis elbow and carpal tunnel syndrome, among others.

The key difference between the two models is the stall force, with the Theragun PRO packing a punch at 60 lbs, while the Theragun Elite comes in at 40 lbs. This is what makes Theragun arguably the best massage gun for recovery and pain relief. The PRO model can deliver tremendous force at an incredible depth for deep muscle recovery, making it more ideal for professionals or athletes with specific needs. For the average person, the Theragun PRO is recommended if you need a more powerful option for thicker muscles. Other than that, we think sticking with the Theragun Elite will be more than sufficient.

#3 Design

Theragun Elite (4th Gen) vs Theragun PRO (5th Gen)

Theragun Elite (4th Gen) vs Theragun PRO (5th Gen)

Here’s where the Theragun PRO stands out. The device features an adjustable arm for greater flexibility when reaching most body parts. You can choose from 4 different angles to tilt the head and adjust your grip accordingly.

Though the Theragun Elite (4th Gen) does offer an OLED screen to display its speed and force, the Theragun PRO (5th Gen) comes with a brand new OLED screen with visually-guided routines built directly into the device.

The next difference is the addition of another attachment. The Theragun Elite comes with five basic attachments: Standard Ball, Dampener, Thumb, Cone & Wedge. The Theragun PRO, on the other hand, includes six attachments, with the Micro-Point being the additional piece. The Micro-Point is generally used to provide increased stimulation while massaging.

The Theragun PRO (5th Gen) is also the only one in the collection with an industry-leading 2-year warranty, giving you confidence in its top-quality performance for years to come. With the Elite, you will only get a standard 1-year warranty.

#4 Battery & Charging

Theragun Elite (4th Gen) vs Theragun PRO (5th Gen)

Theragun Elite (4th Gen) vs Theragun PRO (5th Gen)

The Theragun PRO (5th Gen) features removable and swappable batteries, which makes it easy to replace them in case of battery malfunctions or when the device is no longer covered by the warranty. This is in contrast to the Theragun Elite (4th Gen), which has a built-in battery that can be more restrictive.

When it comes to battery life, the Theragun PRO has a slight edge with 150 minutes compared to the 120 minutes found in the Theragun Elite (4th Gen). However, in our opinion this difference is minor, and both devices will typically last a couple of days for personal use.

Final Thoughts

Theragun Elite (4th Gen) vs Theragun PRO (5th Gen)

If you're a serious athlete and are looking to invest in the best massage gun or an average folk needing something with immense power, the PRO is the one for you. The design aspects are fancier and not exactly essential, so we doubt it will be a key consideration for most.

Other than that, you might be better off saving a few hundred dollars with the Theragun Elite and putting it to the next upgrade when it comes out.
