The SmartTag is affordable at $29, while the SmartTag+ is a bit pricier at $39. The higher cost of the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag+ is justified by its better hardware specs, which provide additional features. But is this worth the extra cost?

Design-wise, the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag and Samsung Galaxy SmartTag+ look practically alike. They feature a diamond-like shape with the name imprinted in the center and a keyring hole at the top. They both operate using a replaceable battery and are water-resistant.
The only physical difference you will notice between the two devices is the name in the centre, which helps you easily identify whether is is the original version or the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag+ model.

When comparing the performance of Bluetooth trackers, a few key factors come to mind — audibility, range and network. Yet, most of these basic functionality between the two are more or less the same. It has a volume of 90 decibels, a 120m range, and can tap into Samsung’s SmartThing Find network when out of range.
Both the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag and Samsung Galaxy SmartTag+ stands out from other Bluetooth trackers thanks to its integration with Samsung's SmartThings app and is what makes it the best for Samsung users. This integration allows users to press the tracker's button to automate certain smart home features. With this integration, users can easily use their device to control a wide range of smart home features with a single press, enabling them to customise their home environment with ease.
The Samsung Galaxy SmartTag+ stands out for its use of Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology for tracking. This technology provides similar augmented reality (AR) tracking capabilities to those seen in the Pokemon Go boom. As a result, users can receive real-time directions to their device through their phone's camera. Pretty neat, huh? In addition, the combination of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and UWB means that the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag+ has a wider range of detection and is more accurate than your average Bluetooth device.
However, this feature also causes the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag+ to drain its battery much faster than the regular Samsung Galaxy SmartTag. For some, this could be a dealbreaker as the need to constantly change the battery can be costly and burdensome.
