Best for Style: Modern Sprout Smart Growhouse
Of course, no one likes an eyesore in their home - even if you are able to de-stress through gardening, we believe that if you should select a smart garden that's not exactly easy on the eyes, you'll create another form of stress for yourself!
This is where the Modern Sprout Smart Growhouse comes in. The Smart Growhouse has a beautiful design like no other and certainly resembles a home ornament rather than a garden. With form and function, we can safely say that the Smart Growhouse is a beautiful pick for any home!
One of the best things about the Modern Sprout Smart Growhouse is its LED lights. The Smart Growhouse features 90+ CRI dimmable full-spectrum LEDs, which produce lighting on par with what you see in museums. Simply put, this means that there are no colour discrepancies in terms of what we observe of the plant versus the plant's actual colour.
Furthermore, similar to the AeroGarden Bounty Elite, the Modern Sprout Smart Growhouse is able to connect to Wi-Fi and is compatible with the accompanying Modern Sprout application. This makes it easier to control your smart garden remotely, ensuring that you won't have to hover over your plants anxiously all day - not that it's necessary, because the Modern Sprout Smart Growhouse takes care of it all for you!
So what can the Modern Sprout application do? Well, it mainly provides recommendations for what you can do in terms of lighting depending on what type of plant you are growing - this means that you won't have to figure out yourself if your plants require partial or full lighting.
The Modern Sprout Smart Growhouse can also hold 102mm potted plants.
With a size of 140x419x401mm, the Modern Sprout Smart Growhouse is still relatively size-friendly, and will not take up too large a space in your home.
Furthermore, the Smart Growhouse specifically makes use of eco-friendly LED lights for their grow lights, meaning that they can last a long time while using minimal power. In fact, the grow lights of the Modern Sprout Smart Growhouse are estimated to last 25 000 hours!
If this sounds like it is up to your alley, you can shop the Modern Sprout Smart Growhouse here.
Best for Saving Space: Gardyn
Singapore is well-known for being a small country, and with it inevitably comes space constraints. Unfortunately, it is often all too difficult to find the space to accommodate a smart garden, considering the number of logistics in place. Additionally, even if we do find the space, we often find that it is only enough for a few plants - which to those who would like to grow more, is also inadequate.
This is where Gardyn comes in - like a vertical smart hydroponic garden.
Gardyn is very meticulous when it comes to covering all its bases - justified, considering the hefty price tag.
It is capable of holding 30 plants, stored in a plant pod termed a yCube or yPod, which is packed with minerals to help the plant grow well. Similar to the Click and Grow Smart Garden 3, Gardyn also has a wide array of plants available for you to choose from, which are all organic. You can even opt for seedless yCubes and make use of your own seeds! When it comes to Gardyn, the sky's the limit.
Gardyn also features a very extensive hydroponic system. At its base is a tub that fills roughly 27 litres of water. The water is re-circulated in a closed-loop, which reduces consumption by up to 95% - also saving you the trouble of constantly refilling the water tank, which is an arduous process.
Gardyn is also chock-full of sensors and even cameras to monitor the health of your plants. The main smart feature is a computer assistant named Kelby, which monitors your plants through the cameras that come with your Gardyn. These cameras are directed at the plants and take photos of them every 30 minutes to provide Kelby with information, and also allow for easy reference should you need customer service assistance. You will then receive notifications and recommendations on what should be done. This is also especially useful if you are away from home but feel uneasy about your plants! If you are uncomfortable with the cameras, this feature can also be disabled.
In terms of the regular features such as lighting or nutrient delivery, Gardyn has you covered. Kelby will inform you when water or plant food needs to be added, and can also be used to tweak the intensity and schedule of your lighting.
Coming in at around 432mm tall, but only extending roughly 152mm out from the wall, the Gardyn grows vertically rather than horizontally - which is very reminiscent of how our own housing apartments are built! Gardyn also features LED lights with a 75W output.
All in all, Gardyn is a very powerful indoor hydroponic garden perfect for the space constraints of Singapore. If you are interested in this, shop Gardyn here.
As with any decision, trying to make the best choice for you and your lifestyle is always the hardest. This is especially so with something as personal as a garden, which often sees a lot of love from its owner. We hope that by putting together this list you have a better idea of what to look out for in your purchase - or, even better, that we have swayed you in some way. Your journey into smart gardening begins now - may it be a fruitful one!
