Key Takeaways

The S7 has larger water tank capacity, but the Q7 has larger dust bin capacity. The Q7 has more powerful 2700Pa suction compared to S7's 2500Pa, but S7 stands out with its Sonic Mopping Technology, Intelligent Mop Lifting, and No-Mop Zones feature. In sum, S7 is better at mopping while Q7 is better at vacuuming.

#1 Design

Roborock S7

Roborock S7

Both the Roborock S7 and Q7 have a round shape and are available in black and white color options. Both designs look sleek and modern, but the S7 has an advantage with its noise-dampening acoustic design to minimize unpleasant noise.

The S7 also has a larger water tank capacity of 300 ml, enough for mopping a 200 sqm area. Meanwhile, the Q7 only has a 180 ml water tank capacity for 150 sqm of mopping, meaning that you may need to refill the water tank more often.

However, the Q7 has a larger dust bin capacity of 750 ml compared to the S7's 470 ml. Opting for Q7 means you don't need to empty the dust bin as often as you would with the S7. However, if you still prefer the S7, you can overcome this limitation by purchasing the optional Self-Emptying Dock, which can hold up to 7 weeks of dirt and debris. The dock is also compatible with Q7.

Both robot vacuums are equipped with the all-rubber brush for durability, and a 5200 mAh lithium-ion battery with 180 mins runtime on a single charge.

#2 Cleaning Performance

Roborock Q7

Roborock Q7

Both the Roborock S7 and Q7 can perform simultaneous vacuums and mops. This mopping capability gives them an advantage over competitors' vacuum-only models, as mopping can capture fine dirt that vacuuming alone might miss.

Both models are capable of effectively removing dust and hair from floors and pulling them from deep within carpets, but the Q7 has a more powerful suction of 2700 Pa compared to the S7's 2500 Pa HyperForce suction. However, the S7 has a superior Sonic Mopping Technology that scrubs the floor up to 3000 times per minute, effective for deep cleaning to remove various stains from coffee to mud.

The Roborock S7 is also equipped with VibraRise technology for Intelligent Mop Lifting, automatically lifting the mop up to 5mm off the floor to achieve "no mop" when it detects carpets, so it won't leave any water stains on your carpets. This feature is not present in the Q7.

However, both vacuums have carpet detection that accurately identifies carpets to automatically boost the suction power to the maximum for deeper cleaning. You can also rely on both models to effectively clean any surface, as the Multi-Directional Floating Brush keeps the brush close to the ground for a thorough cleaning, even on uneven surfaces. It is also effective for cleaning pet hair as the all-rubber brush can resist hair tangling.

#3 Smart Features

Roborock Q7

Roborock Q7

With PreciSense LiDAR Navigation, the Roborock S7 and Q7 can accurately map your home's floor plan up to 4 levels. Both models create a 3D map that you can name and add furniture and floor materials to create a more accurate cleaning plan. You can also see carpets that the robots have identified on the maps for easier management.

Via the Roborock app, you can schedule cleaning by choosing the time and adjusting settings such as suction power and water flow for individual rooms. You can also create Custom Cleaning Routines for quick cleaning during specific occasions, such as cleaning after your child's meal.

If there are certain parts of your home that you don't want the robot to go to, you can set No-Go Zones and Virtual Walls to restrict access. The S7 adds more by allowing you to create No-Mop Zones, so the robot won't mop certain areas, such as high-pile carpets or rugs where the VibraRise can't lift the mop high enough.

If you want to monitor how your robot vacuum is cleaning, you can use the Route Tracking feature on the app to see where the robot has vacuumed and mopped, ensuring that it has cleaned areas you want it to clean and avoid areas you don't want it to.

With a separate Auto-Empty Dock purchased, you can enjoy a hands-free cleaning experience as the robot will automatically empty its dustbin into the dock after cleaning. The large capacity of the dock can hold up to 7 weeks of dust, so you can forget about emptying the dustbin for a long time.

Both the Roborock S7 and Q7 are also compatible with Alexa, Google Home, and Siri Shortcuts, so you can control them easily with your voice.

In conclusion, both the Roborock S7 and Q7 are excellent robot vacuums that offer powerful cleaning performance and plenty of smart features. Whether you choose the S7 or Q7 will depend on your needs, as they have some differences in design, cleaning performance, and smart features.

The S7 is ideal for those who place a high importance on effective mopping, while the Q7 is more suitable for those who prefer a more powerful suction and larger dust bin capacity for better vacuuming performance.
