#1 Technical Specs
Leviton Decora Smart Motion Sensing Dimmer Switch
Leviton Decora Smart Motion Sensing Dimmer Switch is a single pole or three-way switch that supports up to 450 watts of incandescent/halogen, 300 watts of LED/CFL, and 450VA of MLV lighting.
The switch connects to a 2.4GHz WiFi network and requires no hub or smart bridge to function. However, it does require a neutral wire for installation.
Leviton guarantees a 2-year limited warranty on this device, providing you with peace of mind in case of any defects or malfunctions.
This dimmer switch supports both wired and wireless three-way or multilocation control. Three-way switch configurations allow you to turn on and off one set of lights from two different switches. This means, you can control the same lights from different locations in your home. However, you will need a wired DD00R or DD0SR Companion device, or a wireless DAWDC or DAWSC Anywhere Companion device.
#2 Design
Leviton Decora Smart Motion Sensing Dimmer Switch
Decora Smart Motion Sensing Dimmer Switch has a sleek and modern design that will blend seamlessly with your home decor. It comes in white and features a large on/off switch with a dimming bar on the right-hand side. In the body, you will also find a status LED, a brightness indicator, a motion sensor, an ambient light sensor, a guidelight, and an air gap switch. The detailed function of these components is elaborated in the next section.
#3 Features
Leviton Decora Smart Motion Sensing Dimmer Switch
Leviton Decora Smart Motion Sensing Dimmer Switch has a plethora of features that make it stand out from the rest of the smart switches in the market.
You can remotely control the switch and configure settings via the My Leviton App or manually control the device physically by pressing the on/off button or the dimming bar. This dimmer switch also works with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple HomeKit, and IFTTT. This means, voice control is also supported.
In the My Leviton App, you can also create schedules and customize settings. Some in-app features available for you to configure include:
• Motion Sensing. The switch is equipped with a motion sensor that detects motion and turns on/off the lights accordingly. If you frequently forget to turn off the lights in certain rooms, like the laundry room or restroom, this feature can help you save energy. The motion sensor has a 180° field-of-view with a maximum sensor coverage area of 900 sq. ft. (30 x 30 ft.). By adjusting sensor sensitivity, you can adjust the coverage area to suit your needs.
• Ambient Light Sensor. This sensor can detect the amount of ambient light in the room, helping you to save energy by setting the switch to turn off the lights when there's sufficient natural light. In the settings, you can also adjust the sensor's sensitivity to the natural light in the room, enabling you to define the level of light that triggers the switch.
• Occupancy Mode. The switch will automatically turn the lights on when motion is detected, and will turn the lights off when no motion is detected.
• Vacancy Mode. This mode will allow you to manually turn the lights on and off, but the switch will still turn the lights off automatically when no motion is detected for a set amount of time.
• Guidelight. This built-in lighting can be configured to turn on at night when motion is detected, softly illuminating the space instead of turning on the room lights. This is especially useful for late-night bathroom trips or checking on the kids without disturbing their sleep.
• Night Preset Light Level. If you still prefer to have the room lights turned on at night instead of relying on the guidelight, this feature allows you to set a dimmed light level when the room lights are turned on at night. This setting is activated during your pre-defined nighttime hours, which you can configure based on a specified time or sunrise/sunset.
• Motion Snooze. This feature enables you to pause motion detection temporarily for a specified amount of time. For example, when you want the light to stay off for watching a movie.
• Room Occupancy Response. If you have other Decora Smart devices in the room, such as smart plugs or a fan controller, you can utilize the motion sensor in this dimmer switch to activate those smart devices when motion is detected. For example, you can set your smart plug to turn on your table lamp when motion is detected in the room.
• Away Mode. The switch can be set to turn the lights on and off at random intervals when you're away from home, making it appear as if someone is still at home.
Final Thoughts
Leviton Decora Smart Motion Sensing Dimmer Switch
Leviton Decora Smart Motion Sensing Dimmer Switch combines 4 main functionality in one device: smart switch, dimmer, motion sensing, and ambient light sensing.
