#1 First Look

Spacetop G1

Spacetop G1

Spacetop G1 comes with a keyboard with hardwired XREAL-designed AR glasses and a compartment to store the AR glasses when not in use. The keyboard set weighs 3.08 lbs (1.40 kg), while the glasses weigh 0.18 lbs (0.08 kg), making the overall setup lightweight and portable, great for on-the-go productivity.

Once we put on the AR glasses, a virtual display appears in front of our eyes, allowing us to view and interact with the laptop's interface. The virtual display supports up to 100 inches in size, providing a large and immersive workspace for enhanced productivity and multitasking.

The AR glasses feature a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, a 50-degree field of view, and a 90Hz refresh rate. It may not deliver the most cutting-edge visual experience as most laptops today, but the specs should provide sufficiently a clear and smooth display for daily productivity tasks.

#2 Features

Spacetop G1

Spacetop G1

Spacetop G1 is powered by SpaceOS, a custom operating system built on Chromium designed specially for the AR laptop experience. SpaceOS supports many popular productivity apps and tools like Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Notion, Figma, and many others, ensuring a seamless and familiar workflow for users.

The company noted that "Anything you do on the Web, you can now do in space". That ensures the laptop's compatibility with a wide range of software and services, making it a versatile productivity tool.

One primary advantage that the SpaceOS offers is the ability to "float" multiple tabs in the air, allowing users to focus on different tasks without constantly switching between windows. It's like working with multiple monitors with only one device, making the laptop great for multitasking and boosting productivity.

While the virtual workspace that the Spacetop G1 offers is private, the laptop also offers a Live Stream feature. This allows users to share a single window or the entire workspace with others in real-time, enabling seamless remote collaboration.

To support video conferencing or online meetings, the Spacetop G1 is also equipped with a 5MB webcam built into the front cover, along with an optimized microphone for clear audio capture.

Spacetop G1 also offers built-in AI, with a dedicated AI button to quickly access and utilize various AI-powered productivity features.

#3 Performance

Spacetop G1

The Spacetop G1 is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon QCS8550 CPU and an Adreno 740 GPU, providing a solid foundation for its performance. With 16 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, the device offers ample memory and space for most users' needs.

These specifications are well-suited for handling daily productivity tasks with ease. However, it's worth noting that for more demanding applications, such as video editing, the laptop may face some limitations. While it can manage most everyday computing tasks efficiently, users looking to perform resource-intensive work might find the Spacetop G1 somewhat underpowered for their needs.

#4 Price & Availability

The Spacetop G1 is now available for pre-order at a price of $1,900 USD. This AR laptop is expected to begin shipping to customers in the United States market in October 2024.

When you make the purchase, a $100 refundable deposit is required to secure the pre-order. The deposit can be refunded if the customer decides to cancel the order before the device ships.

For users who wear prescription lenses, the company offers the option to get the AR glasses customized to their specific prescription, ensuring a comfortable and inclusive experience for everyone.

Final Thoughts

Spacetop G1

Spacetop G1

The Spacetop G1 represents a unique and innovative approach to on-the-go productivity, blending the convenience of a laptop with the immersive capabilities of augmented reality.

While the Spacetop G1's AR capabilities offer a novel and potentially productive workspace, its performance limitations may make it better suited for basic productivity tasks rather than more demanding applications. However, the laptop's focus on privacy may be worth the trade-off for on-the-go users who prioritize a secure and distraction-free working environment.
