Design & Controls

Insta360 Flow
Despite being the more compact, smaller-sized gimbal, the Insta360 Flow manages to fit a built-in tripod and selfie stick into its design. It also has a built-in cold shoe mount to attach accessories like microphones, making it a truly all-in-one solution for content creators on the go.
The DJI Osmo Mobile 7 only has a built-in tripod with no built-in extension rod or cold shoe, but that's perhaps why it is more lightweight. Together with the magnetic phone clamp, the DJI Osmo Mobile 7 weighs just 300 grams, while the Insta360 Flow weighs approximately 401 grams with the magnetic phone clamp.
In terms of the control interface, key controls like a power button, shutter button, switch button, trigger, and joystick are equally present on both gimbals, but they have different approaches.
The DJI Osmo Mobile 7 has the controls distinctly separated from each other, while the Insta360 Flow has a more streamlined control layout that gathers every key control together in the SmartWheel.
The Insta360 Flow also uses a Zoom Wheel for zoom control and switching camera lenses, while the DJI Osmo Mobile 7 uses a Zoom Slider solely for zoom control.
Tracking Features

DJI Osmo Mobile 7
DJI Osmo Mobile 7 offers ActiveTrack 7.0 on the DJI Mimo app, which is the latest subject-tracking technology that DJI offers. Meanwhile, the Insta360 Flow offers Deep Track 3.0 in the Insta360 app, which is an older subject-tracking technology from the company.
The ActiveTrack 7.0 is more advanced with extra capabilities like multi-person tracking, which the Deep Track 3.0 doesn't support. However, both technologies equally support zoom tracking, tracking animal subjects, and reliable re-identification of the subject when it gets temporarily obscured.
To use ActiveTrack 7.0 or Deep Track 3.0, you'll have to record using their respective companion apps. If you want to use third-party apps, both gimbals offer different ways of supporting subject tracking outside the companion apps.
DJI Osmo Mobile 7 uses the Multifunctional Module, an attachable accessory with on-device AI tracking that makes it possible to use subject tracking in various third-party apps. The advantage is that it supports any app without limitations and it comes with an integrated fill light for additional lighting. The downside is you have to pay an extra USD 49 for this accessory.
Meanwhile, the Insta360 Flow uses the Live Mode feature within the Insta360 app to enable subject tracking in third-party apps, without the need for any additional accessories. However, only a limited handful of third-party apps are supported, including Instagram, TikTok, FaceTime, Skype, Facebook Messenger, WeChat, Lark, and Line. Your phone's native camera app is also not supported.
Other Features

DJI Osmo Mobile 7
The DJI Osmo Mobile 7 and Insta360 Flow share common features like 3-axis stabilization, gesture control, various shooting modes, and AI-powered editing tools within their respective mobile apps.
As a newer model, the DJI Osmo Mobile 7 also offers additional features not found in the Insta360 Flow, such as remote control via an Apple Watch and Quick Launch feature for iPhone, which automatically pops up the DJI Mimo app when the phoe is attached to the gimbal.
Battery

Insta360 Flow
The Insta360 Flow has a smaller 2900 mAh battery capacity than the DJI Osmo Mobile 7 with a 3350 mAh battery, but it impressively offers a longer 12-hour runtime compared to the 10-hour runtime of the DJI Osmo Mobile 7.
The Insta360 Flow also charges more quickly in just 2 hours, while the DJI Osmo Mobile 7 takes approximately 2.5 hours to fully charge.
One common feature between the two is that both gimbals can be used to charge your phone, serving as a power bank in case your phone runs out of battery during use.

Final Thoughts

DJI Osmo Mobile 7
Despite being an entry-level model, the DJI Osmo Mobile 7, with its newer technologies and features, seems to outperform the older Insta360 Flow in most aspects, making it the better value proposition overall.
The DJI Osmo Mobile 7 boasts a newer-generation ActiveTrack 7.0 and has advanced features like Quick Launch, Apple Watch Control, and support Multifunctional Module to enable subject tracking across various third-party apps.
The Insta360 Flow's advantages lie in its 12-hour battery life as well as the built-in selfie stick and cold shoe mount. Subject tracking in third-party apps is also free with Live Mode, but it is limited to a handful of apps.
