Design
DJI Osmo Mobile 7
DJI OM 7 and DJI OM SE are foldable smartphone gimbals with a similar light gray aesthetic. They share a similar control interface overall, featuring a status panel, M button, shutter button, switch button, joystick, trigger, and zoom slider.
The newer DJI OM 7 has a more lightweight body at 300 grams, but it impressively still manages to integrate a built-in tripod into its design, allowing you to easily set up the gimbal on a flat surface without the need to carry a separate tripod.
The DJI OM SE is slightly heavier at 383 grams, and it doesn't even pack a built-in tripod. It instead comes with a grip tripod on the box, which you can attach to the gimbal via the screw hole on the bottom.
For shooting in challenging outdoor environments, the OM SE's grip tripod is more steady and sturdy. For use on flat surfaces in windless conditions, the OM 7's built-in tripod is more convenient. Each has its own advantages depending on the shooting scenario, but if you choose to go with the DJI OM 7, a separate grip tripod can still be purchased separately.
Another design difference between the two gimbals is the magnetic phone clamp. The DJI OM 7 features an improved magnetic phone clamp that allows more secure attachment of your smartphone. It also now supports larger smartphones up to 300 grams, while the DJI OM SE can only handle smartphones up to 290 grams.

Both gimbals offer the DJI Mimo app and LightCut app as their companion mobile apps, providing a range of advanced camera controls and editing tools. You can use the ShotGuides feature as shooting guides, choosing between various shooting modes (Timelapse, Panorama, Dynamic Zoom), or even use gesture controls to operate the gimbal without touching it.
DJI Mimo app also offers ActiveTrack for subject tracking, but the OM 7 supports the newer generation ActiveTrack 7.0 while the OM SE supports the older ActiveTrack 6.0. The newer version is not only more accurate at tracking subjects but also introduces multiple subject tracking capabilities, which is useful for group shots.
The DJI OM 7 also supports a Multifunctional Module, a separately sold accessory that can be attached to the gimbal to expand its features. The module houses on-device AI tracking, so you can use subject tracking beyond the DJI Mimo app, such as social media apps, video conferencing apps, or native and third-party camera apps.

However, the DJI OM 7 is even more impressive. With a huge 3350 mAh battery capacity (versus 2600 mAh on the OM SE), it can provide up to 10 hours of battery life, making it very suitable for long shooting sessions or travel use without the need to recharge frequently.
The USB-C charging port on the DJI OM 7 can also be used to charge your connected smartphone, allowing you to extend the overall battery life of your mobile video setup.
